What is a labyrinth?
A labyrinth is a sacred geometrical symbol with a single path leading to a center point. It is not a maze because there is only one path. Its unique pattern is designed to shift awareness from left brain to right brain as you walk, inducing altered states of consciousness. It allows those who enter to experience other ways of "seeing." The center point is the place of power.
In a most basic sense, the labyrinth represents the spiritual journey; that of venturing to the center of your innermost being and then returning to the world with a broader sense of who you are. It is a metaphor for life's journey.

Inherent within the design of the labyrinth is its archetypical power, dating back some 3,000 to 4,000 years. Its use as a spiritual tool first became popular during the time of the Crusades, when conflict prevented medieval Christians from making their required pilgrimage to the Holy Land. When used for repentance, pilgrims would walk the intricate pattern on their knees.

The labyrinth at Blue Sky Ranch is one of literally thousands of labyrinths found in the world and is based upon the famous Chartres Cathedral labyrinth located near Paris, France.

How do you walk the labyrinth? All you need to do is enter the doorway and follow the path. Clear your mind. Move slowly and in silence. Observe the process. Gently step aside when others need to pass, and then step back at the same point along the path and continue walking. When you reach the center, pause for a few moments and enjoy the center point. Receive its gifts. Then step back out and begin your journey out of the labyrinth, returning along the same path.

Each person's walk on the labyrinth is a uniquely personal experience. And each experience with the Labyrinth is uniquely different. We hope that you will enjoy the journey
